Who is that learned person who shares all these deep thoughts? Who is that critic who always has something to say? Moreover, why should her opinion matter? I' m sure you are asking yourself these questions.
I am a 50-something woman born and raised in the American West. There are two people to whom I gave birth and a few others who have called me "Mom" just because. After twenty years of single parenting, two failed marriages, twenty five years of public service and a life time of finding my way, I've formed an opinion or two. I've also received a fair amount of positive feedback on advice I've offered up. This has given me the sense that I know what I'm talking about. I also come from a family of individuals who just know that they are right.
Please note here that, in my opinion, I know what I'm talking about and I have been raised to believe that I am genetically predisposed to being right (or so everyone in my bloodline would believe). Given that I have little or no credible evidence to the contrary, I think everyone should hear what I have to say and nod approvingly as I say it.
Another possibility for you to consider, however, is that I am really just a smart ass who always has something to say. Only time will tell if there is anything of value to be gleaned from this blog. By the time anyone figures that out, I will be even further entrenched in the belief that the only true measure of its value is my own.
